You are all invited to Tashkeel to discover the work of GCC artists and designers who worked on the theme of the Metamorphosis and are submitting their creations tonight. Tashkeel, "an independent resource for local artists and designers is committed to facilitating art and design practice, cross-cultural dialogue and creative exchange with the aim of transforming the region's creative landscape". When associating with the Design Days and it's sponsor Van Cleef & Arpels, transformation, multi-usage and diversion seemed like a pretty obvious and natural theme for a competition, especially given the fact that the Jeweller does have several examples of multi-functional items: the Passe-Partout chain-belt that can be worn as a necklace, a bracelet or a belt and the Cadenas jewelry, inspired by the traditional padlocks but which function as both elegant bracelets and hidden timepieces.
The winner of the competition will be invited by Van Cleef & Arpels to Paris to experience l'Ecole Van Cleef & Arpels, their school of jewellery, to learn about their world and techniques.
Come discover the challenging competition at Tashkeel tonight.
